Concept Ideas

Concept One

Kids In Glass Houses – Black CloudPeople avoid this man because he feels like an outsider, when people do try to interact with him there are consequences and not good ones although he cannot help it. In the middle he finds himself in a crowded area and there are mass consequences causing him to go crazy. However towards the end of the video he finds a girl who he is fine around and comfortable and there is no consequences and they live happily ever after, or do they…With a possible performance scene throughout.

Concept Two

For a protagonist is the only being on earth; the video follows what he does on a daily basis. He is constantly reminded of his past everywhere he goes so for example finds an area and then a flashback to a good time in his life that happened at that moment. Also as this is happening we are seeing another protagonist of a women who thinks she’s the only being on earth and is constantly looking back on her past and is constantly reminded of it just like the man. At the end the two narratives meet and boy meets girl.

Concept Three
Performance narrative and montage of the band hanging out. For example we have taken inspiration from this video.
Save Your Breath – Stay Young

Edits And Cinematography
For concept one and two, the use of black and white would work through the start and middle of the videos as they are dark, isolated concepts but when it gets to the end and the problems are resolved it could go back to colour. For example Lady Gaga uses this switching between colour and black and white in her video for “Applause.”
Also for concepts one and two, slow mo could be used when the characters are reacting to their problems. More specifically in the middle 8 of the song.
For the performance section of the videos, flashing lights could be used to create a sense of verisimilitude of a live performance. There would be a lot of close ups used on the band and tilt ups to focus on the instruments and then on the band member.
