Shooting Schedule Updated

15th December 2013
Location: Rehersal Rooms

We filmed some performance effectively with minimal problems. Unable to record some narrative so recording will take place within the week.

Shooting Schedule

15th December 2013
Location: rehearsal rooms.

Today we will be filming as much of the performance as we can. We had trouble renting a camera from college, but we borrowed one from our peers. We will also attempt to film some of the narrative as the outside of the rehearsal rooms looks very urban and fits the mise-en-scene.
Will update when today's filming is over.

Good & Bad Music Videos Through The Years

1967
The Beatles - Hellogoodbye

This music video is a good example of a poor music mainly because back in the 60's there wasn't many music videos around so The Beatles were just making it up as they went along it seemed not to mention they probably were on some kind of drugs at the time but that's beside the point. Cinematography wise it is very boring to watch, the same shots over and over again which is not typical of a music video these days which is full of different shots capturing a performance and keeping to the tempo of the song. The camera is also static throughout most of the video showing no movement and therefore very boring, not only that it doesn't help that the band themselves are stood still making the whole thing looking like there is no energy or movement to the video. Editing wise this video is dreadful, the first shot lasts 16 seconds it does go from black and white to colour however that isn't doing it for me. With the slow edits it is really hard to get through the whole video because you find yourself watching the same shots over and over again, very repetitive and very boring.

There are some good points to the video however, with cinematography there are a lot of two shots or long shots which show the band all together showing them as a full bad rather than individual. This technique is used a lot in videos now as the band want to get across the togetherness of the band. With the mise en scene the video starts off in black and white and edits back into colour. This could represent the band moving into the future and leaving behind the old or their old image as at the time colour TV would of been very new and cool and this is what The Beatles are trying to do here, be young, new and cool. Also on the theme of leaving behind their old image half way through the video there is a shot of them in their old collarless suits which they used to wear then cuts back to them now. This could represent that they are moving forward and leaving that old image in the past.
